A grain chain conveyor works by using an enclosed trough containing an endless chain with attached flights (paddles) that drag the grain along the bottom of the trough. Material is loaded through an inlet, falls to the bottom, and is continuously pulled by the moving chain and flights to a discharge point. The enclosed design contains dust and prevents contamination, making it suitable for grain and other bulk materials in food processing plants. The trough lining of the chain conveyor is fitted with Teflon sheet to counter abrasion and eventual wear and tear.
